THE CHAMPION CURRICULUM
Here at champion academy of martial arts we teach the art of Taekwondo ( Kukkiwon ) in the style of Moosooldo . Our main focus is sport Taekwondo which incorporates many physical fitness drills, to develop a stronger all-around athlete that will be conditioned and prepared for competition.
Our curriculum is designed to provide the highest quality Olympic training system in the Bermuda. Our training system provides a challenging atmosphere for all students, simultaneously teaching the fundamental principles of Olympic Taekwondo.
Poomsae or Patterns are a set sequence of movements that consists of the various fundamental stances, blocks, punches and kicks logically arranged in a meaningful order in response to attacks from multiple imaginary assailants. Each Poomsae consists of an established sequence of movements which has a philosophical meaning each Poomsae has its own character and distinct quality. Poomsae teaches a student balance, technique, coordination and self-discipline. There are Poomsae competitions nationally and internationally at which patterns are displayed and judged.
“Sparring is the nearest thing to a real fight, without actually fighting.”
Kyorugi (or sparring) is an actual fight between two competitors using the offensive and defensive skills acquired through the practice of Taekwondo. The educational role of sparring is to improve reflexes, respond to sudden attacks, learn to take risks, be alert, and become a master Tactician in the art of fighting. In any sparring match, precautions are taken to protect the participants.
On a regular basis, students learn Taekwondo from White belt to Black Belt, thereby allowing them to develop the skill sets required during sparring.
Ho Shin sool
Ho Shin Sool encompasses an integrated system of fitness and self-defense. It will teach you how to fight standing up as well as on the ground. It will allow you to use and build strengths both mental and physical and it will diminish your weaknesses. It will blend your mind, body, and spirit into one.
Techniques of raw physical power blended with grace to destroy wood and stone .
